The Inside Story
By Simphiwe Radebe, Boys Rugby U17A – 2027
Three weeks ago I twisted my ankle at practice and thought my InterSchools was over before it started. I spent days icing it and doing boring rehab exercises with our physio while my mates trained.
On Monday I passed my fitness test. I'm not sure I've ever been so relieved.
Sitting on the sideline taught me something: I saw how hard everyone else works when they think nobody is watching, and it made me want to earn my place back properly. I've been first at every session since.
My ankle will be strapped on Wednesday, but my head is clear. 13:00, Rugby A Field. Thanks to everyone who kept checking in on me. I won't let you down.
