The Inside Story
By Marco Hendricks, Boys Rugby U14A – 2027
When Coach read out the U14A team on Monday and I heard my name, I honestly didn't hear the rest of the list. My first InterSchools, and I get to run out onto the Rugby A Field at 10:00 on Wednesday to open the whole day against HS Menlopark.
My mom has already ironed the jersey twice. My little brother asked if he can wear it to bed. I said no, but I might have tried it on in the mirror once or twice myself.
We've been practising our lineouts every afternoon this week, and our scrum finally feels like one unit instead of eight guys pushing in different directions. Being the first game of the day means the whole school will still be fresh and loud. I want us to set the tone for every SchoolDemo team after us.
