The Inside Story
By Ofentse Steyn, Girls Hockey U16A – 2027
Every year before InterSchools, I write one word on a piece of tape on my hockey stick. In Grade 8 it was "brave." Last year it was "calm." This year it's "together."
That word sums up our U16A team. We don't have one superstar. We win when all eleven players on the field do their job and trust each other.
This week we've practised our outlets from the back, our passing patterns and our defensive shape. Coach says we're ready, and for the first time I feel it too.
12:00 on Wednesday, Astro A, against HS Menlopark. Look out for the tape on my stick.
