The Inside Story
By Luca Lombard, Boys Rugby U14A – 2027
Everyone keeps telling us the first game sets the mood for the whole of InterSchools. No pressure, right?
Our U14A side has only played together since January, but this week something clicked. At Monday's practice we ran our backline move eight times in a row without dropping the ball, and Coach actually smiled. That has never happened before.
I've written "10:00 – Rugby A Field" on the back of my hand every morning so I don't forget, even though there is zero chance of me forgetting. My grandpa is driving up from the coast to watch. He played for the school in the eighties and still talks about the time they beat Menlopark in the rain.
I'd love to give him a new story to tell.
