The Inside Story

Coach asked me to lead the U17A team on Wednesday. I said yes before he could change his mind.
Being captain at InterSchools is something I've dreamed about since I watched my first one from the stands in Grade 8. Back then the senior players looked like giants. Now I'm one of the guys the young ones are watching, and I take that seriously.
This week I've tried to speak to every player one on one. Some are nervous, some are overconfident, and a few just need someone to tell them they belong in the team. They all do.
We kick off at 13:00, right in the middle of the busiest part of the day. The crowd will be at its biggest. We're going to give them something to shout about.
